Club Alpine Renault (C.A.R. Ltd) was formed in the Summer of 1989 by a group of enthusiasts dedicated to Alpine-Renault cars. The club was launched at the Renault Parts Centre at Swindon on 31st July 1989 under the name Club Alpine Renault GB.

In 1991 the Club became a limited company adopting the official title C.A.R. Ltd, retaining 'Club Alpine Renault' as the normal club name.
