A610

In production between 1991 and 1995 the A610 was the successor to the Alpine GTA V6 (Renault GTA in UK) and was the last Alpine produced until the relaunch of the brand with the A110 in 2017. Factory records show only 818 cars having been produced, 67 of which were right hand drive.

The A610 boasted a new 3.0 litre engine with Garrett turbocharger producing 250bhp and achieving 0-60mph in 5.7 seconds. Although physically similar to the GTA, the car had substantial changes over the GTA taking it further upmarket with ABS, power steering and air conditioning as standard. The car featured a composite body, leather interior and sports alloy wheels and was now a genuine 160 mph GT car and a direct competitor to the Porsche 911.

In a very competitive but shrinking market and despite acclaim from the motoring press production ended in 1995 and switched factory production to the Renault Sport brand.
The A610 was never designed for motorsport but In 1994 Legeay Sport installed the twin-turbo motor from a Safrane bi-turbo to create a 450PS LM GT2 competitor. Entered for the le Mans 24 hour race and carrying on the Alpine competitive tradition it finished a highly respectable 13th overall.
